Hello,

I am Carrie Kraus, Children’s Christian Education Director at Eastside Community Church.  The Holy Spirit ignited in me a deep passion for the souls of children when I was practically still a child myself.  I have been teaching children God’s Word for over 20 years.

My favorite scripture regarding children is found in Matthew 18:10.  These are Jesus’ words “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.”  I am so thankful for this verse.  I have imagined many times those who ministered to me as a child receiving much inspiration, reflection, admonition and purposefulness from this verse.

My gospel story began at the age of 10.  I was lead to salvation by my summer camp counselor.   From that point on I held close to my heart the Word of God.  Shortly after my conversion I was blessed to see my sisters saved as well as my parents.  Within a few years my earthly family became part of my eternal family.  Praise be to God!

At Eastside we too take very seriously the care of these little ones.  We use the Children Desiring God curriculum for educating our children. This curriculum is GOD-CENTERED and not man-centered. These studies purposefully present God as the main character in each lesson. For example, Moses did not part the Red Sea, GOD did! They learn the Bible is a book foremost about GOD. The other characters in the Bible merely point to GOD.

That being said it is important to note we believe the parents have the primary responsibility for the spiritual nurture of their children. The Children Desiring God curriculum provides take-home sheets for the parents to use as a tool for discussion and re-enforcing each lesson at home.   Our goal is to partner with parents in communicating to children that God is the source, means, and purpose of all things and He gets the glory.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your children’s spiritual journey.
